Safelane Technology

Safelane will build on the succesfull award winning Intellicone technology marketed by Highway Resource Solutions. During the project results non confidential project announcements will be made on this page.

01

Project result - Impact Trial Results (Completed)

During January and February 2013 TRL has undertaken a wide range of impact trials at their test site in the UK. A specially modified vehicle has been used that was made available by Highway Resource Solutions as well as a TRL DAF truck. Tests have been undertaken to study the effect of different vehicles striking cone barrier as different speeds and conditions. The results have been used to distinguish the forces involved between different vehicle impacts. Below is video footage of 2 of >50 tests undertaken with different types of cone lamps at different speeds up to 60mph
Safelane Smart Battery Design (Completed)

02

During the project a smart battery will be developed which will include an impact sensor, battery pack and induction charging system. Work is complete with a fully functional Smart battery having been subjected to rigorous field trials.

03

Design of Mass Induction Charging System (Completed)

To be able to charge Safelane smart batteries inductively requires a mass charging station. Work has completed to deliver an effective charging station. It can charge 36 lamps simultaneously and is ideal for sequential lamps of which it can hold two full taper sets

04

Device Management System & Web Portal

In order to manage remote devices and provide users with real time information requires the development of a device management platform including user interface. A fully working system has been developed and is currently in use. Contact Highway Resource Solutions for a demonstration.

05

Integrated Safelane System

Combining advances resulting from a European Commission supported innovation project and by combining Intellicone platform technology with VMS, it is possible to provide a fully automated works entrance solutions. This makes it possible to distinguish legitimate site traffic from potentially dangerous errant vehicles without physical presence of traffic management operatives. The automated site access system can be used on its own or as part of a wider traffic management set up where it can deliver SAFER worksites at LOWER cost.
